Thomas Henry Owers was born in Barton Mills (Mildenhall Q3-1900 4A:902), son of Frederick and Jessie OWER (née EDWARDS).

1901 census...Aged 9 months, he was at Tuddenham Road, Barton Mills with his mother Jessie OWERS [45]; sister Eliza [19]; brother George [15] worker in garden, and uncle Charles OWERS [44] farm labourer. All were born in Barton Mills. His father has not been found in this census.There was an older brother, William.

1911 census...Aged 10, he was at Barton Mills with his parents (father Frederick OWERS [59] farm labourer born Barton Mills); brother George, farm labourer, uncle Charley OWERS and cousin William Owers [4] born Barton Mills, but no record of parentage. One of Jessie's 4 children had died.
His father died in 1917.


He enlisted in Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds (he has two entries in "Soldiers Died".
He had not served abroad so there was no medal award. The cause of death and location will need a copy of his death certificate and that registration has not yet been found. He died in Hastings according to probate.



Thomas Owers is buried in Barton Mills (St. Mary's) Churchyard. NW boundary
